New 2021 Citroen e-Berlingo Van on sale now from £31,302

VANS
Citroen’s electrification strategy is going from strength to strength, and the French firm is building on its already fairly expansive fully electric range with this e-Berlingo Van commercial vehicle. The new Citroen e-Berlingo Van is available to order in the UK now, with prices starting from £31,302 including the government’s £3,000 plug-in van grant. The new commercial vehicle variant means Citroen has beaten stalwart van brands like Ford and Mercedes to the punch, as it now has a pure-electric offering in all three of the major van segments, with the e-Berlingo joining the mid-sized e-Dispatch and the larger e-Relay.However, it’s worth mentioning that the new electric model is only available in the brand’s two most expensive specifications – the cheaper X Pro and Worker Pro trims are only available with a…

VANS
The electric Peugeot e-Partner Van is available to order in the UK now, with prices starting from £31,262 including the government’s plug-in van grant. New Citroen e-Berlingo van 2021 review

New Citroen e-Berlingo van 2021 review

VANS
VerdictThe Citroen e-Berlingo Van is a great little workhorse. With a maximum payload of 800kg, plenty of torque and an electric range of 171 miles, it's more than capable enough to take the place of a diesel van in most applications. The only drawback we can see is price, but once you factor in the fuel savings over the first few years of ownership, it starts to make sense. In all, it’s a well-executed small electric van which stands out amongst its mediocre peers. The industry-wide electrification push has produced several rather lacklustre electric vans in recent years, most of which have been quick-and-dirty rehashes of existing diesel-powered vehicles with tiny ranges. Key culprits include the Volkswagen Abt e-Transporter and Mercedes eSprinter, both of which will do less than 100 miles…

New Mercedes Citan van 2021 review

New Mercedes Citan van 2021 review

VANS
VerdictThe new Mercedes Citan is a relatively refined van that offers some good tech and respectable carrying capacity and payload. The ride is ok and the engine is punchy enough and fairly frugal too, making this a competent all-round commercial vehicle.Think of Mercedes vans, and the small Citan is unlikely to register ahead of the giant Sprinter and mid-sized Vito. But the Mercedes Citan is a decent seller in Europe, and the firm has produced a new-generation model that features tech from Mercedes' passenger car range. While the new Citan won't arrive in the UK until the middle of next year at the earliest, we've been behind the wheel of the newcomer to see what small van buyers can expect. From the outside, the Citan features an evolutionary look that's unmistakably…

Top 10 best medium panel vans 2021

Top 10 best medium panel vans 2021

VANS
The medium-sized panel van is a staple of countless hard-working fleets across the UK. These vans offer more space than a small or car-based van, without being as bulky as a large panel van. This makes them easier to maneuver both in the busy city streets and twisting country roads. Modern vans in this class are also fitted with many of the luxuries and technology features seen in family cars, making them more pleasant to drive. But which should you choose? We rank our 10 favourites.Buy a medium-sized van, and you're buying a versatile set of wheels. There's usually space for three up front, while the payload area can carry at least two Europallets with ease. Cargo volume is useful, while payload weights can often match, or even exceed, those…

Citroen Ami Cargo confirmed for UK launch in 2022

Citroen Ami Cargo confirmed for UK launch in 2022

VANS
Citroen has confirmed it will double up its offering for the new Ami electric quadricycle in the UK by bringing the Ami Cargo last-mile-delivery van variant to Britain. More than 14,000 UK customers have registered an interest for the passenger version of the Ami, and 1,400 of them have already placed a £250 refundable deposit to reserve one. UK prices are yet to be confirmed but, in its home market of France, the Ami Cargo starts from €6,490 (around £5,600), including a €900 subsidy from the French government. The UK currently doesn’t have any subsidies for electric vehicles of this size, so we expect prices to push past £6,000 by the time the Ami Cargo hops over the Channel. The tiny electric courier van looks pretty much identical to the passenger-carrying Ami from…

New Fiat Scudo and Ulysse to offer electric powertrains

New Fiat Scudo and Ulysse to offer electric powertrains

VANS
The Fiat Scudo van and Ulysse MPV have been off sale in Britain for quite some time, but the Italian firm is bringing them back in 2022 with a multitude of configurations and powertrains. Stellantis-owned Fiat will use the EMP2 platform shared with the Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert to bring back the Scudo and Ulysse nameplates to Britain. The platform also allows for all-electric models, named e-Scudo and e-Ulysse to accompany Fiat’s sole electric van, the e-Ducato. While no performance figures have been released yet for the all-electric models, if we take Citroen’s e-Dispatch electric van as a marker then expect a 50kWh or a 75kWh battery with 144 or 205 miles of maximum range. No details have been revealed on the internal combustion-engined variants either, but they’ll likely receive the new…

New 2022 Renault Kangoo E-Tech electric van breaks cover with 186-mile range

VANS
Renault has added another electric model to its line-up with the new Kangoo E-Tech. It’ll go on sale in spring 2022, sitting alongside its combustion-powered counterpart and becoming a new rival for the likes of the Citroen e-Berlingo and Peugeot e-Partner.The new Renault Kangoo E-Tech electric features a 121bhp electric motor which is powered by a 45kWh battery pack placed under the van’s floor. Renault claims a maximum range of 186 miles. Regenerative braking with three set positions can be used, while there’s also an Eco drive mode designed for maximising range when the vehicle is carrying a light load. When connected to an 80kW DC rapid charger, the battery can receive 106 miles of range in around 30 minutes. A 15–100 percent charge takes around four hours using a three-phase…

New Peugeot e-Partner van 2021 review

New Peugeot e-Partner van 2021 review

VANS
VerdictWe haven’t got many bad words to say about the Peugeot e-Partner. It drives well, it has a decent payload, it’s well-equipped and it has a perfectly serviceable electric range. Our only concern was the price. At more than £31,000, you’re paying out a lot more up front for the e-Partner than you would for its diesel equivalent but, factor in the fuel savings over the first few years of ownership, and you’ll be quids in before you know it.Stellantis has thrown its full weight behind electrifying its commercial vehicle line-up – and the company is starting to get to the pointy end of its strategy. The new Peugeot e-Partner is the latest addition to the range, joining the mid-sized e-Expert and large e-Boxer. The move means Peugeot (and its sister…

Citroen Relay van review

Citroen Relay van review

VANS
The Citroen Relay has been a popular panel van for many years, in part due to some favourable finance offers from Citroen. It first arrived in 2006, and in 2014 an updated and improved version was launched to keep pace with its main rivals: the Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter and Volkswagen Crafter. It was updated again with the addition of Euro 6 emissions-compliant diesel engines in 2016, while a further revision in 2021 ensured the Relay was Euro 6.3-compliant, and introduced a new trim level structure. The Relay, known as the Citroen Jumper everywhere other than the UK, uses a bodyshell and platform that's shared with the Peugeot Boxer and Fiat Ducato - in fact, there are so few differences between the three vans that it can be hard to tell them apart. The one…
