Leaks from Polish publication Spider’s Web Autoblog indicate that Alfa Romeo’s upcoming Tonale SUV will use petrol, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid engine options from its Jeep Compass sister car.According to the site, the Tonale’s engine specs were shared from an internal presentation, which also detailed the crossover’s dimensions. At 4528mm, the Tonale is longer than the Jeep Compass (although it shares the same wheelbase), and about the same width as the Mercedes GLA. The entry-level Tonale will be fitted with a 128bhp 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol unit, which will be combined with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard.The mild-hybrid petrol variant will also be linked to the dual-clutch auto. Peugeot has detailed another batch of updates for the 2022 model year of its 208 and e-208 superminis, following on from last month’s announcement of range-boosting tweaks for the EV version.The Volkswagen Polo rival’s range structure has been streamlined, meaning both the combustion-engined 208 and electric e-208 are available in four trim levels: Active Premium, Allure Premium, GT and GT Premium. Peugeot says “customer preferences for higher-trim vehicles” has resulted in the entry-level Allure models being dropped.Engine choices have been streamlined, too, with the 1.5-litre diesel engine no longer offered in flagship GT Premium form.
